Residents of Delhi-NCR experienced a welcome respite from the intense heat on Thursday as a sudden storm brought heavy rain and strong winds to the region. Overcast skies and dense clouds accompanied the downpour, transforming the weather into a more pleasant state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next two days, cautioning that certain areas might witness rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. The department advises people to stay updated with the latest weather information to remain prepared.
Simultaneously, the IMD announced the onset of the southwest monsoon in Kerala, marking the official beginning of the four-month-long monsoon season across the country. According to the weather department, the monsoon is expected to gradually advance to other parts of India in the coming days.
Experts suggest that the rainfall in Delhi-NCR is likely to bring down temperatures, providing much-needed relief from the sweltering conditions that have persisted recently. This change in weather is anticipated to alleviate the discomfort caused by the ongoing heatwave.
